description Description
Minor and neglected crops, including millets, pulses, pseudocereals, oilseeds and regionally important edible plants play a crucial yet underappreciated role in global food systems. These crops exhibit inherent tolerance to abiotic stresses such as drought, heat, and low soil fertility. The ecological interactions between minor crops and insect communities viz. pests, pollinators and natural predators of insect pests form complex networks that influence productivity, stability and resilience of agroecosystems. Climate change is profoundly altering and reshaping insect phenology, population dynamics and geographic distributions, often intensifying pest pressure while destabilizing beneficial insect services. This review paper synthesizes existing knowledge on plant–insect interactions in minor crop systems from an integrated botanical and entomological perspective.
